Hortencia Kayser, Ph.D.
Dr. Kayser is a Professor in the Department of Communication
Sciences and Disorders at Saint Louis University.
She received her bachelor’s and master’s degrees from the
University of Arizona and earned a doctorate from New
Mexico State University. She also completed a three-year
post-doctoral fellowship at the University of Arizona’s
National Center for Neurogenic Communication Disorders.
She is a Fellow of the American Speech-Language-
Hearing Association and received the ASHA award for Recognition in Contributions
to Multicultural Affairs. Dr. Kayser has written extensively in the areas of assessment
and treatment of Latino children. Her career focus has been to educate monolingual
and bilingual speech language pathologists about the issues concerning assessment and
treatment of Latino children. Her career has been a mission and a passion for children
and she is highly respected by clinicians across the country.
