Laura M. Justice, Ph.D., CCC-SLP

University of Virginia

Laura M. Justice, Ph.D., CCC-SLP, is an Associate Professor of Education at the University of Virginia in the McGuffey Reading Center and the Center for Advanced Study of Teaching and Learning. She directs the Preschool Language and Literacy Lab, which conducts basic and applied research on early literacy and language development, home- and classroom-based language and literacy interventions, parent-child storybook reading interactions, and language disorders. She has authored or co-authored five books, including Shared Storybook Reading with Helen Ezell and Scaffolding with Storybooks with Khara Pence, and over 50 research articles, several of which have won national recognition, including the 2005 Editor’s Award from the American Journal of Speech-Language Pathology. In 2006, Dr. Justice was awarded the Presidential Early Career Award for Scientists and Engineers from President George W. Bush, which is the highest honor bestowed upon scientists by the U. S. government within the first six years of their career.
