Claire Langdon, PhD, has worked extensively with adult dysphagia, in acute, rehabilitation and residential care facilities. She is currently based at a large teaching hospital in Perth, Western Australia. Claire holds a Bachelor’s degree in Speech Pathology, a Master of Public Health (Epidemiology), and completed her PhD investigating factors predicting pneumonia in acute stroke. She is a Fellow of the College of Health Service Management, and was awarded a Fellowship in 2010 by the Winston Churchill Memorial Trust to undertake research into the use of devices to facilitate rehabilitation of dysphagia. Claire is a member of the Dysphagia Research Society, an international body of researchers with an interest in deglutition and swallowing. Her current dysphagia research involves stroke, dysphagia and sleep apnoea, and rehabilitation using neuromuscular electrical stimulation and transcranial magnetic stimulation.
