Sharon A. Lesner, PhD

Sharon A. Lesner, Ph.D., is a Professor of Audiology in the School of Speech-Language Pathology and Audiology and a Fellow in the Institute for Life Span Learning and Gerontology of The University of Akron. She is the Coordinator of the Northeast Ohio Au.D. Consortium (NOAC), a joint doctor of audiology program of The University of Akron, Kent State University and the Cleveland Clinic. Dr. Lesner received a B.A. in Psychology from Hiram College, a M.A. in Psychology from Kent State University, a M.A. in Audiology from Wayne State University, and a Ph.D. in Audiology from The Ohio State University. She has taught at The University of Akron for thirty years. She is active in terms of teaching, administration, and clinical service delivery and is particularly interested in the provision of hearing care for older adults. Dr. Lesner served as president of the Academy of Rehabilitative Audiology. She was awarded the Distinguished Achievement Award of the American Academy of Audiology in 2007 and was recognized for excellence in education by Ohio Magazine.
