ABOUT THE AUTHOR
Lynn Adams, Ph.D., CCC-SLP is an Associate Professor in the Department of Communication Sciences and Disorders of Radford University. Additionally, she serves as Director of the Radford University Autism Center. The center, funded by the university and a grant for the Jesse Ball duPont Foundation provides interdisciplinary assessment and treatment services to children with Autism Spectrum Disorders in southwestern Virginia. She holds the Certificate of Clinical Competence from the American Speech-Language Hearing Association. Her areas of research and clinical expertise include Asperger syndrome, Autism and related disorders, language acquisition and disorders in infants, toddlers and preschoolers.
A teacher and supervisor in the university setting since 1992, she has also served local school systems as an Autism Education Consultant since 1994. She worked in a public school setting, and a developmental evaluation center. She received her doctorate from The University of Tennessee-Knoxville, and her MS and BS from The Florida State University, Tallahassee.
Dr. Adams is active in both the state and national professional associations. She served as the President-Elect and President of the Speech-Language-Hearing Association of Virginia (SHAV). She is currently serving as a Legislative Councilor from the Commonwealth of Virginia.
