Deborah Toffolo

Deborah Toffolo, M. App. Sci., B. App. Sci., is a Practicing Speech Pathologist and Rehabilitation Case Manager at Access Brain Injury Services in Sydney, Australia. She established this service in 1995, in response to the need for specialized rehabilitation services for people with traumatic brain injury following discharge from hospital. Deborah completed her Bachelor of Applied Science in Speech Pathology at University of Sydney, in 1985 and her Masters Degree (Communication Sciences and Disorders) in 1998. Deborah’s thesis “The Development of the Inpatient Functional Communication Interview” was supervised by Professor Chris Code and based on an original concept by Robyn O’Halloran. Over the past 20 years Deborah has been involved in many roles, all aimed at improving service delivery for people living in the community with neurogenic communication disorders including the development of training modules for undergraduates at Charles Sturt University in Acquired Brain Injury and the “Getting More from Life”, Community Education programmes for the South Western Sydney Acquired Brain Injury Interagency.
