Monica Gordon-Pershey, EdD, CCC-SLP, is an Associate Professor in the Communication Sciences and Disorders Program, School of Health Sciences, at Cleveland State University (CSU), Cleveland, OH, and served as Program Director for six years. Since joining CSU in 1995, her teaching experience has included a variety of courses in communication sciences and disorders, with a specialization in graduate language disorders courses, undergraduate language development courses, and undergraduate writing intensive courses, as well as mentoring undergraduate and graduate capstone research and supervising master’s theses. She is a member of the Institutional Review Board for Human Subjects in Research at CSU.
Dr. Gordon-Pershey has authored over 120 articles, chapters, and presentations on language and literacy and the pre-professional and professional development of speech-language pathologists and teachers. She maintains a private practice in speech-language pathology and literacy education.
She serves on the editorial committee of Perspectives on Language and Literacy (International Dyslexia Association) and co-edited its 2013 issue on syntax and grammar. She serves as a reviewer of graduate programs in reading disorders for the International Dyslexia Association and was a site visitor for ASHA’s Council on Academic Accreditation. She is a past president of the International Dyslexia Association - Northern Ohio branch. Dr. Gordon-Pershey was previously a clinical speech-language pathologist at University Hospitals Cleveland Medical Center.
