Pawel J. Jastreboff

After 8 years at Yale University and 8 years at the University of Maryland, where he established the Tinnitus & Hyperacusis Center, Pawel J. Jastreboff, PhD, SCD, MBA moved to Emory University in January 1999 to continue for research and patient treatment. In 1988, on the basis of research on the physiological mechanisms of tinnitus Dr. Jastreboff proposed a neurophysiological model of tinnitus and Tinnitus Retraining Therapy (TRT). He has also created an animal model of tinnitus, and his present research is aimed at delineating the mechanisms of tinnitus and designing new methods of tinnitus and hyperacusis alleviation. Dr. Jastreboff received a PhD in Neuroscience and Doctor of Sciences Degree (Neuroscience) from the Polish Academy of Science. He did his postdoctoral training in the University of Tokyo, Japan. Recently, he got an MBA degree from Goizuetta Business School at Emory. He holds Visiting Professor appointments at Yale University School of Medicine and at University College London and Middlesex Hospital, London, England.
