Lisa M. Bedore

Lisa M. Bedore, PhD, has been on the faculty at UT Austin since 1999. Her research interests are in the areas of child language and phonological development and disorders with a special interest in Spanish-speaking children. In her research Dr. Bedore is particularly interested in how aspects of language form - phonology and morphology in particular interact with other aspects of language development. This interest has lead to a collaborative book project with Dr. Babs Davis on the acquisition of speech production and perception and how these interact in the child and in his or her environment. Her current research focuses on the manifestation on language impairment in bilingual children. She is currently a co- PI on 2 NIH funded research project studying risk for impairment in bilingual children between the ages of 4 and 7 years and to develop a tool for identifying language impairment in bilingual Spanish English speaking children between the ages of 7 and 9 years. Dr. Bedore was a was a co-recipient with Dr. Barbara Davis of the Silver Award in The Innovative Use of Instructional Technology Awards Program in 2003 and she is a two- time winner of the College of Communication Research Award at UT Austin.
