Janice Pasieka

Janice Pasieka, MD, FRCSC FACS, graduated from the University of Western Ontario Medical School and completed her general surgery residency training at the University of Calgary. Following her residency, she completed three years of endocrine surgical training—a year of which under the mentorship of Dr. Norman Thompson at the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor. Dr. Pasieka went on to study endocrine surgery at the Karolinska Institute in Stockholm, Sweden under the mentorship of Dr. Bertil Hamberger. She returned to the University of Calgary and has devoted her clinical practice solely to endocrine surgical diseases. Dr. Pasieka completed a three-year term as the secretary treasurer of the American Association of Endocrine Surgeons and in 2010 became president of this association. She was a James IV Traveling Fellow and is currently a governor of the American College of Surgeons. Her areas of interests include neuroendocrine tumors, adrenal disease, thyroid cancer, and the study of surgical outcomes in patients with hyperparathyroidism. To date, she has more than 100 peer-review publications and 15 book chapters.
