Tyler T. Christopulos, PhD, CCC-SLP, is an associate professor in the Department of Communication Sciences and Disorders at the University of Utah. He is the founding director of the university’s Speech-Language Pathology Assistant program and currently directs its MS-SLP program. Dr. Christopulos also maintains a small caseload as a school-based speech-language pathologist, keeping him directly connected to emerging issues and the day-to-day realities of practice in public schools. Staying active in the schools gives him firsthand insight into service-delivery challenges and the changing priorities facing school-based clinicians. He draws on these experiences to prepare students for the realities of professional practice and to ensure that his teaching and research remain responsive to the needs of schools. His research focuses on universal screening for developmental language disorder among children in the early elementary grades. His research lab also partners with school districts to use implementation science to shorten the gap between research and clinical practice. He particularly enjoys collaborating with school-based SLPs to develop practical, sustainable approaches that strengthen services and improve outcomes for children with language disorders.
